Job Description:
The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts values the importance of data and is looking to add a role of Planning and Data Analysis Specialist Senior. Under administrative direction, this position will provide analytical support to the Institute and its critical academic, financial, and operational decisions. The position will brainstorm and create analyses to enhance our strategic planning, furthering financial education, improving policy, and decision-making support, using ASU’s various tools, methods and techniques.
Position Salary Range:
- $57,900 - $80,000 annually
Essential Duties:
Performs complex and advanced research analysis techniques, to understand current performance, analyze trends, and to make recommendations to improve outcomes.
Creates visualizations that are easy to interpret and access by those in non-analytical roles.
Prepares or coordinates preparation of reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long-range plans.
Prepares presentations to stakeholders and university administration.
Develops the collection and analysis of data for Institute-wide projects such as financial modeling, space utilization, student enrollment growth predictions, budget and forecasting analyses, employee personnel metrics, retention and recruitment, inventory assessment, developing various dashboards, etc.
Uses predictive modeling, statistics, trend analysis and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and identify the right data to be analyzed from internal and external sources.
Securely collects, cleanses, standardizes, transforms and stores data from various sources ensuring data integrity.
Maintains broad awareness of current trends in data collection and organization, data preservation, and numeric data analysis by participation in appropriate professional activities and contributing to research in the field: to implement procedures and technologies that assure the long-term sustainability and accessibility of datasets.
Utilizes various computer programs and software to perform data computation, statistical analysis and other data manipulation activities.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Future potential to provide oversight of staff including coordination of activities, managing and coaching staff to build skills in interpreting and reporting data analysis results to ensure adherence with stated outcome, timeframes and standards
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in higher education
Understanding of financial terminology that is applicable to business in higher education
Experience with the following skills: data warehousing and extracting (Amazon Workspaces, SQL, Alteryx, etc.); data analysis and modeling (R, Python, SQL, etc.); data visualization using BI Tools (Tableau, My Reports, etc.)
Experience in custom report building in Workday, Adaptive Planning, or Office Connect
Ability to hear a problem and identify ways to add data as a part of the solution
Ability to communicate to all audiences regardless of their familiarity with our operation
Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to the assigned department
Knowledge of administrative, financial, and business management principles and practices
Knowledge of analysis techniques and reporting strategies
Knowledge of computing and data analysis
Experience in quantitative data analysis and interpretation.
Ability to collect, organize, synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations
Knowledge of data management and information technologies
Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques
Experience in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
Skill in managing multiple priorities
Ability to accurately and reliably interpret data for determining appropriate action
Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment
Ability to lead by example, in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
