About the role

The Chief Risk and Audit Office are looking for a skilled and motivated Cyber Threat Analyst to play a key role in protecting the City’s digital environment. In this role, you’ll help detect, analyse and respond to cyber threats, strengthen our security capabilities, and contribute to a safer, more resilient organisation.

You’ll work hands‑on with modern security tools, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and help shape the City’s cyber standards and processes. Working collaboratively with external vendors, technical teams and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in driving timely issue resolution and continuously strengthening the City's cyber security capability.

This is a Full-Time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and respond to cyber security alerts and incidents, managing them through to resolution.
  • Analyse security events, identify threats, and understand adversary tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
  • Monitor and administer cyber security platforms, including patching, vulnerability management, and control improvements.
  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities while providing expert guidance to stakeholders.
  • Produce post-incident reports and contribute to continuous improvement through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Make informed, risk-based decisions and recommend automation opportunities to enhance cyber security operations.
  • Review and approve cyber security changes and service requests, ensuring compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Support a strong cyber security culture by partnering with customers, participating in on-call support, and contributing to awareness initiatives

We are looking for

  • Experience in incident analysis, detection development, or SOC environments.
  • Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk), scripting (Python, PowerShell), and query languages (KQL, SPL).
  • A strong understanding of attack techniques (MITRE ATT&CK), threat modelling and detection methods.
  • Familiarity with cyber security stacks such as: CrowdStrike, Netskope, Splunk SOAR, Proofpoint and MISP.
