Job Description

Responsible for team leadership and serves as secondary support to the Team Manager. Provides strategic program management for some of the most visible and complex healthcare IT initiatives at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). Develops long-term relationships with key stakeholders and leads interdisciplinary teams that include participants from patient care, research, and education mission areas. Functions with full authority for the execution and delivery of strategic program objectives and deliverables, providing recommendations regarding scope, schedule, resources, budget, and risk management. Mentors PMO project management staff, supporting both project execution and professional growth while making recommendations for employee development.

As a member of the OSUWMC IT Portfolio Management Office (PMO), the Senior IT Project Manager serves as a leader of enterprise-level interdisciplinary programs. This role partners with executive leadership across the health system to identify how technology can address organizational needs and translates those needs into system requirements and design specifications. The Senior IT Project Manager leverages the integration of technology and applications to create strategic value, while coordinating dynamic teams to achieve business objectives, project timelines, and desired outcomes.

In addition, the Senior IT Project Manager serves as a PMO Team Lead by providing support and coverage for the Team Manager, participating in leadership meetings, assisting with the onboarding of new staff, monitoring project quality and performance, and recommending professional development opportunities. This role promotes PMO best practices, fosters collaboration across teams, and helps ensure the successful delivery of initiatives that support the organization's strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired.

The position requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, including management experience. Five or more years of project and/or program management experience leading medium- to large-scale projects or managing multiple concurrent projects is strongly preferred.

Prior experience in an IT management role is required, demonstrating the ability to lead teams, manage resources, and successfully deliver technology initiatives that support organizational goals.
