About Us

Society Matters CIC is an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to improving lives and creating opportunities for people and communities.

Through innovative training, employability support, financial wellbeing programmes, coaching, consultancy and partnership initiatives, we help people build the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to thrive. Society Matters CIC also delivers and develops new social impact ventures, including initiatives such as Suitability, whilst working closely with partners across the public, voluntary and private sectors.

As we continue to grow and develop within the wider Society Matters Group structure, we are seeking new Directors to help guide our next phase of development.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking Board and play a meaningful role in shaping the strategic direction of a purpose-driven organisation.

As a non executive Director, you will work collaboratively with fellow board members and senior leaders to:

·        Provide strategic leadership and constructive challenge.

·        Support the long-term sustainability and growth of Society Matters CIC.

·        Ensure strong governance and accountability.

·        Promote innovation and social impact.

·        Act as an ambassador for the organisation.

·        Help strengthen partnerships and opportunities that improve lives across our communities.

·       Support the development of new initiatives and ventures that create lasting social value.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about social change and can bring strategic insight, independent thinking and a commitment to good governance.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

·        Commercial growth and business development

·        Social enterprise leadership

·        Education, learning and skills

·        Employment and employability

·        Finance, audit or accountancy

·        Legal and governance

·        Marketing and communications

·        Human resources and organisational development

·        Digital transformation and technology

·        Public sector leadership

·        Fundraising and income generation

·        Partnership and stakeholder development

·        Charity or voluntary sector leadership

Previous board, trustee or non-executive experience is welcomed but is not essential. We are equally interested in individuals with significant leadership experience who are looking to take on their first governance role.
