Job Description
As a Gameplay Animator (NPC), you will be responsible for the creation, integration, and validation of animation systems for non-player characters (NPCs), whether they are enemies or allies. Your work must respect the vision of the animation direction while meeting design constraints and the technical requirements of the game engine.
What you will do:
- Design NPC animation systems for various behaviors:
- Basic locomotion;
- 3D navigation;
- Combat behaviors;
- Hostage situations.
- Process and improve motion capture (mocap) data with high precision, taking into account the specificities of the game engine;
- Export and integrate animations by following the technical rules established by the technical direction, in collaboration with technical animators, designers, and programmers;
- Test and revise systems directly in the game, ensuring their proper functioning and quality;
- Collaborate daily with other members of the animation team, animation direction, programmers, and designers to deliver features on time and at the expected quality level;
- Take responsibility for the final quality of each animated feature in the game.
Qualifications
- Solid experience in gameplay animation for video games;
- Proven experience in NPC animation and creating animation systems;
- Proficiency in mocap data processing;
- Knowledge of MotionBuilder (an asset);
- Experience on a shipped AAA game (a plus);
- Good understanding of the technical constraints related to integration into a game engine;
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and respect artistic and technical visions;
- A sharp eye for detail and visual quality;
- An open and collaborative attitude, capable of finding compromises to solve complex problems;
- Constant motivation and pride in delivering quality work;
- Flexibility and the ability to manage frustrations related to changes in production;
- A passion for teamwork and sharing ideas in a creative environment.
