Deck Watch Officer

We are looking for a Deck Watch Officer to join our expanding fleet in Brazil.

You will have the opportunity to work on a fleet of modern vessels with high technological capacity and participate in dynamic, highly complex operations, such as:

• Anchor handling and torpedo loading on AHTS vessels;
• Inspection, maintenance, subsea construction, and saturation diving on RSV, CSV, DSV, and MPSV vessels;
• Flexible pipe laying on PLSV vessels.

We are looking for professionals who bring expertise in vessel maneuverability, planning, and task execution organization, as well as clear and objective communication, with a focus on safety, operational efficiency, and technical excellence.

Location:

This is a position to be performed offshore on board one of our fleet's vessels on a 28x28 rotation.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Complying with and enforcing the "Master's Standing Orders";
• If the most senior officer, replacing the Chief Officer in all their legal impediments;
• Upon boarding, assisting in checking crew documentation while observing current legislation;
• Conducting a safe navigational watch, using available equipment, and informing the Master of any abnormality that may affect the safety of navigation;
• Ensuring that all relevant information has been mentioned during the watch handover;
• Tracking non-conformities within the management system;
• Monitoring activities on board, ensuring compliance with the group's safety policy;
• In the absence or unavailability of the Safety Officer on board, ensuring that safety tools are carried out, such as Work Permits, Tool Box Talks, JSA, etc. For this, request assistance from the Chief Officer/Master whenever necessary;
• Maintaining the Navigation Logbook, Azimuth Book, and others required by current regulations;
• Planning a voyage and determining the vessel's position;
• Assisting in vessel maneuvers when requested by the Master;
• Being responsible for all emergency signaling equipment, such as flags, pyrotechnics, lamps, flashlights, etc., in addition to navigation equipment;
• Identifying and responding to a distress signal, communicating immediately to the Master;
• Being responsible for the inventory, distribution according to the emergency plan, and maintenance of all safety and life-saving equipment;
• Keeping informed about new rules and regulations governing their activity;
• Keeping all nautical charts and publications updated;
• Keeping informed about contractual terms and the client's contingency system;
• Maintaining the organization of the bridge;
• Registering crew and passengers on the vessel, as well as keeping personnel lists on board updated;
• Controlling bridge and safety/life-saving consumables and requesting, through the Chief Officer, repair services, replacement, or substitution of parts or equipment;
• Introducing the vessel to new crew members, passengers, or visitors, performing safety familiarization;
• Training nautical cadets and interns on board;
• Preparing documentation for port clearance;
• Being familiar with access control at different security levels, assisting the Security Officer on board with surveillance when in port;
• Monitoring loading and unloading, stowage, and care of deck material during navigation;
• When designated, operating the vessel's dynamic positioning system, maintaining position surveillance, and performing maneuvers;
• Managing the initial stage of a dynamic positioning failure and assisting the Master in emergency situations;
• Monitoring weather forecasts daily, informing the Master of bad weather warnings, emergency communications received from other vessels, etc.;
• Informing the Chief Officer of any defect that prevents radiocommunication service;
• Maintaining the Radiocommunication Logbook daily in accordance with current legislation;
• Performing and overseeing inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance according to the maintenance program, as requested by the Chief Officer;
• Assisting in controlling the validity of certificates for equipment under their responsibility;
• Assisting with inspections, surveys, and maintenance services by subcontractors on equipment under their responsibility;
• Implementing actions and procedures to meet the pollution prevention and control plan adopted on board;
• Checking that their "Maritime Health Certificate" is valid and ensuring that its renewal is done before it expires;
• Participating in integrated operations;
• Working with care and technique, using the necessary PPE for the performance of their duties safely, and requiring others involved to use it;
• Knowing their role and others described in the vessel's emergency muster list;
• Participating in risk assessments before the start of operations.

Your responsibility is to perform your tasks punctually and within the company's quality standards.

• Higher education degree in Nautical Sciences and/or completion of a merchant marine officer training course. STCW II/1

• Competence always in accordance with STCW- 2ON

• Full DP Certificate;

• Certificates: EROG, EARP, TBS-1, EOPN, ECIA, ESPM, ESCM, EPOL, and EGPO

• Experience as a Deck Watch Officer on AHTS, RSV, MPSV, or PLSV vessels.
