Our client is a regulated digital banking and payments provider, combining fintech agility with the compliance standards of a licensed bank. Their finance function is central to keeping records accurate and audit ready across banking transactions, tax, and regulatory reporting.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a key role within our client’s finance function, bringing deep accounting expertise to support the accuracy and integrity of financial records across their banking operations. Working closely with Senior Accountants and the broader finance team, this role is suited to someone with a strong background in financial services or banking accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain accurate accounting records across all relevant systems, with a focus on banking-specific transactions and regulatory requirements.
- Take lead responsibility for the timely processing of:
- Accounts receivable and payable.
- Travel expense bookings.
- Debit card, credit card, and payment platform bookings.
- Fixed and intangible asset accounting.
- Accruals, prepayments, and foreign currency transactions.
- Play an active role in the preparation and execution of the annual audit of financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including VAT calculations.
- Act as a go to resource for accounting queries from colleagues across the business.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.
Requirements
Hard Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting, ideally within a bank, fintech, or regulated financial services environment.
- Relevant accounting qualifications or equivalent professional training.
- Proficiency in German and English.
- Solid knowledge of tax related topics, including VAT calculations.
- Strong grasp of accounting and bookkeeping standards; IFRS exposure a plus.
- Confident working with financial systems and ERP tools.
Soft Skills
- Hands on, proactive, and comfortable operating with a degree of autonomy.
- Strong communicator, able to explain complex accounting topics clearly.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player with a cross functional mindset.
