Job Description

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is looking for a part-time instructor to be section instructor for STC 348 Modern Principles of Strategic Communications during the 8W Fall II term (Online, session run October 19-December 10, 2026) (3 credits).

Synchronous sessions will meet on Tuesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm, October 20-December 8.

Course Description: This course examines fundamental principles that guide strategic communications professionals and audiences in contemporary society. Topics include professional roles and ethical obligations, audience analysis and segmentation, message framing and representation in media, and communication strategies across communities and stakeholder groups.

Modern Principles of Strategic Communications equips students to examine what makes communication and collaboration difficult in organizations and to build strategies for stronger, more cohesive teams. Students explore how individual perspective and experience shape communication, decision-making, and workplace relationships, and how those dynamics play out in media and organizational life. Through active discussion and engagement with viewpoints different from their own, students develop the skills to communicate and collaborate effectively across differences, preparing them to lead within a complex, multi-perspective professional landscape.
