- 26 long weekends a year with a 9-day fortnight, plus 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week MyLeave
- Build a varied property career, with full support to grow into Crown Land and Native Title

Why This Role Is Different
In a large organisation, property professionals often spend years in one lane. At Tenterfield Shire Council, you'll work across the full portfolio. That covers leases and licences (communication towers among them), buying and selling Council land, plans of management, and Council's role as a Crown Land Manager.
This is a standalone role reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, where you'll become Council's go-to adviser on land and property. It's a rare chance to broaden your skills quickly and see the real impact of your work in the community.
Where Your Background Fits
There's no single path into this role. You might come from:
- Residential or commercial property management, leasing or real estate
- Conveyancing, paralegal or legal support work
- Local government, in property, assets, planning or governance roles
- State government, Crown Lands or a Local Aboriginal Land Council
- Surveying, town planning, valuation or construction
If you understand how property works, from titles and leases to negotiation and contracts, you already have the foundation. The specialist parts can be learned on the job.
A Month in the Role Might Include
- Negotiating a lease renewal for a communication tower on Council land
- Reviewing titles, deposited plans and zoning to confirm a property's status
- Updating a plan of management for a community reserve
- Coordinating valuers, agents and surveyors on a land purchase or sale
- Preparing Council reports on leases and Crown Land matters
- Keeping Council's land, lease and GIS registers up to date
What You'll Bring
- Experience in property, real estate, conveyancing, leasing or land administration, or a qualification in Land Economics, Property, Town Planning, Business, Legal Studies or similar
- Confidence working with titles, leases, contracts or plans
- Clear written communication, including report writing (we'll show you the Council format)
- Strong organisation and the confidence to manage your own workload
- Australian working rights
Highly regarded, but not essential:
- Experience with Crown Land, Native Title or Aboriginal Land Claims
- Knowledge of plans of management or lease portfolios
- Previous local government experience
- A degree in a property-related discipline
Don't Tick Every Box?
Apply anyway. We value your property know-how, judgement and willingness to learn over a perfect match to every line above. You'll start with a structured induction and time with the Director to understand Council's portfolio and priorities. You'll get stuck into live matters early, with training in Crown Land and Native Title as you build your expertise.
What's In It for You
- An attractive salary of $90,916.80 to $103,927.20 p.a., commensurate with qualifications and experience
- 12% superannuation
- 9-day fortnight, giving you a long weekend every fortnight
- 4 weeks accumulative annual leave
- 2 weeks accumulative sick leave
- 1 week MyLeave provision
- Relocation assistance for the right candidate
- Further learning and development opportunities
- Onsite monthly counselling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Access to Health and Wellbeing programs
