Postdoctoral Research Associate in Digital Design

The University of Manchester is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to lead the design of next-generation vision processor hardware. This role focuses on near-sensor integration of novel computer architectures for advanced edge computing scenarios. The research involves design space exploration and the implementation of digital systems using FPGAs, with potential for future ASIC implementation. You will carry out system modelling, design novel parallel processor architectures at the RTL level (using Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL), and drive the hardware-software co-design aspects of these new architectures. Additionally, the role involves interfacing with high-speed sensors and building practical technology demonstrations. This position is embedded within a long-standing research programme on vision sensors and SIMD processor arrays in the laboratory of Prof Piotr Dudek at the University of Manchester. The role is directly associated with the EPSRC-funded project on "On-sensor Computer Vision," carried out in collaboration with Imperial College London, University of Bristol, and industrial partners.
