Job Description
As a 3D Character Modeler at Ubisoft Montreal, you will create the characters, creatures, and animals that players will interact with. You will combine your artistic and technical skills to shape the physical traits that bring the characters in our universes to life.
You enjoy the process of creating detailed and complex characters. Designing blend shapes, clean topologies, and optimized meshes represents an opportunity for you to deepen your expertise. You actively seek feedback from your colleagues to refine your work and strengthen the foundations needed to bring characters to life.
What you will do
- Collaborate with art and narrative teams to understand the game's vision
- Study concept art and narrative guidelines, and conduct your own visual research
- Create and improve characters throughout the 3D pipeline
- Perform modeling, sculpting, texturing, retopology, and UV unwrapping
- Find the balance between visual quality and technical constraints
- Work with animation and rigging teams to ensure credible movement
- Adapt your work based on feedback from testing and production teams
- Contribute to maintaining consistent visual standards within the project
Qualifications
What you bring to the team
- Mastery of 3D character modeling for video games
- Good knowledge of 2D tools and 3D software used in production
- A solid understanding of topology, textures, materials, and anatomy
- An ability to work with technical constraints specific to games
- A creative, collaborative mindset focused on continuous improvement
- Good communication skills
- An openness to constructive feedback and iteration
- Familiarity with 3D scanning and optimization is an asset
