Requirements Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • Relevant training, degree, or experience in communications, digital marketing, public relations, business, public policy, technology, entrepreneurship, or a related field
  • Strong storytelling, research, writing, and presentation skills, with an interest in thought leadership, entrepreneurship, and Japan’s technology and innovation ecosystem
  • Experience or strong interest in digital content creation; Familiarity with website management, including WordPress updates, social media, website copy, and basic UI/UX principles is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and social-media platforms; familiarity with graphic design tools like Canva, basic web coding and Wordpress, AI productivity tools, Slack, and Zoom is a plus.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Able to work from the Tokyo Station office 1–2 days per week
  • Relevant experience through student organisations, marketing, PR, content creation, events, government, entrepreneurship, or business communities is beneficial but not required
  • Language Proficiency Requirement: Native-level proficiency in English. Native or business-fluent spoken and written Japanese (JLPT N1 preferred).

Job Description

At Workato, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join the Japan team as an Office Management Intern/Contractor. This position will work closely with the leadership team to ensure the smooth operation of daily business. Specific responsibilities include office and administrative support, event planning and management, and onboarding support.

While playing a central role in ensuring the team works in an organized and fulfilling environment, you will also support community activities and external engagement. This is the perfect position for someone who finds satisfaction in "getting things done," thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing a seamless and positive experience for internal teams and external guests.

Beyond daily tasks, there are opportunities to take on additional ownership based on your interests and achievements, contributing to projects and expanding your scope of work. [Minimum Commitment] 6–12 month internship

  • 15+ hours per week during the semester (negotiable during exam periods)
  • 30+ hours per week during school holidays (within Workato business hours, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

In this role, you will also be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

  • Support for daily office operations
  • Support for regular team activities, such as team meals and internal events
  • Logistics and coordination support for events and offsites
  • Support for new employee onboarding
  • Handling office-related requests, such as supplies and business cards
  • Simple document preparation and follow-up for meetings
  • Support for external engagement and community events as needed

Requirements / Experience & Skills

  • Interest and practical experience in office management, coordination, or operations (internal communications, HR operations, project coordination, etc.)
  • High IT literacy and practical knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides); experience with tools like Slack and Zoom is a plus
  • Able to work from the office near Tokyo Station at least 3 days per week
  • Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality
  • Comfortable with flexible responses and supporting activities outside the office when necessary
  • Language Requirements: Native-level English; daily conversation and business writing level in Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N2)
