About the team

The Waste and Resource Recovery team is committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that support the Gold Coast's growing community. Working across complex environmental and regulatory landscapes, the team develops and implements initiatives that improve waste management, increase resource recovery and drive positive environmental outcomes. You'll join a collaborative team that works closely with stakeholders across the organisation, industry and government to help shape the future of waste services.

About the role

As Senior Project Officer, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives focused on improving waste management and resource recovery outcomes across the city. Leveraging policy, planning, regulatory frameworks and funding opportunities, you'll support the development and delivery of projects that create lasting environmental and community benefits.

Working across the full project lifecycle, you'll undertake research and analysis, develop funding submissions, prepare high-quality reports and recommendations, and collaborate with stakeholders to identify innovative solutions to waste and recycling challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the delivery of projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Developing funding applications and bid proposals for State and Federal Government programs.
• Researching, analysing and resolving waste and recycling challenges.
• Preparing high-quality reports, presentations and correspondence.
• Applying legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks across project activities.
• Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
• Contributing to innovative initiatives that improve resource recovery and waste diversion outcomes

We’re looking for people who have:

We're seeking a proactive and analytical project professional who enjoys solving complex problems and turning ideas into practical outcomes. You'll be comfortable navigating policy and regulatory environments, engaging stakeholders and delivering evidence-based recommendations that support sound decision-making.

To be successful, you'll bring:

• Qualifications in Project Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Management or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Experience supporting or delivering projects in a complex operational, regulatory or environmental environment.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience preparing reports, business cases, submissions or funding applications.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build productive stakeholder relationships.
• Sound understanding of project management principles and governance frameworks.
• A current unrestricted Class C Driver Licence
