Overview:
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified applicants for a Materials Inventory Support Specialist who will have a dual role supporting the Neutron Technologies Division as well as the Chestnut Ridge Materials Management Group here at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). This position will report to the Materials Management Front Line Supervisor.
The primary purpose of this position is to establish and maintain accurate and complete item detail information for maintenance parts, spares, materials, and supplies which support the operations located on Chestnut Ridge. In addition, this position will support Materials Management Supervision in all aspects of the Chestnut Ridge Materials Management Operations and will perform the duties of this position in their absence.
Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Responsible for utilizing Infor Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to establish new maintenance item records, edit existing records, and/or deactivate approved records.
- Generate and affix barcode labels from Infor EAM.
- Replenish inventory using appropriate procurement processes.
- Initiate kit to work order creation, delivery, and returns.
- Perform analysis and monitor the usage of inventory for potential increase or decrease trends. The analysis will also focus on inventory lead times, supplier performance, and inventory standardization.
- Review inventory accuracy and initiate cycle counting on an annual basis as well as perform inventory adjustments outside of the cycle counting activity. Investigate, analyze, and resolve inventory problems and concerns when variances occur to assure continuity of operations then establish corrective action solutions.
- Gather and evaluate shelf-life information to support the reliability of all critical inventory items.
- Monitor and record inventory that requires preventative maintenance to support the reliability of inventory.
- Work independently and serve as a liaison between management, customers, accounts payable, engineering, procurement, and vendors to assure the quality and availability of inventory.
- Generate and review reports associated with inventory to consistently improve performance to meet or exceed established measures.
- Serve as backup SME for other areas of Materials Management including but not limited to receiving, delivery, property management, SAP inventory, Hold For Future Projects inventory, and other Chestnut Ridge Site Services processes.

Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a BS/BA in business, logistics or other relevant field.
- A demonstrated knowledge of receiving, delivery, and other materials and property management processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with automated and manual inventory systems including SAP, Sharepoint, and other software programs dealing with inventory management.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to positively interact with all levels of management, customers, and vendors.
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills, including the demonstrated ability to work through multiple projects and adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities in a demanding environment while maintaining the highest level of attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritize, work independently, make decisions, and communicate ideas and concepts.
- Ability and desire to be a team player and to exercise sound judgment within the assigned scope of responsibility.

- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
