Job Description

Ohio University School of Nursing seeks a Visiting Professor candidate to provide clinical instruction to traditional on-campus BSN students. The Visiting Professor position is a full-time, 9-month position for the academic year 2026-2027 and may be extended for up to an additional 2 years.

Candidates will be required to plan, implement, and be responsible for BSN student clinical and laboratory/simulation instruction. Didactic instruction may be assigned, based on expertise and credentials. Assignments will include clinical instruction, conducting skills lab activities, and executing simulation teaching scenarios. Assigned didactic teaching modalities will be face-to-face.

In addition, online class delivery may be assigned as needed, based on expertise and credentials. The successful candidate may be expected to provide clinical site, laboratory, and didactic instruction to BSN student learners for all BSN courses.

Additional expectations include (but are not limited to):

  • Meeting with course faculty to develop course expectations.
  • Identifying students' needs in terms of clinical and laboratory objectives of the relevant course.
  • Providing instruction to students at the clinical sites, laboratory/simulation settings, and classroom to acquire professional attitudes, knowledge, and skills.
  • Assisting students in using problem-solving techniques.

Successful candidates will be required to be on campus and/or regionally located clinical site assignments throughout the academic year (August through May).

Teaching assignments/instructions responsibilities will be based on candidate expertise and/or credentials.

All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.
